Collaging Echoes and Resonances Across Space/Time

Collaging Echoes and Resonances Across Space/Time is a 2-hour arts-based workshop facilitated by Linh Nguyễn & Elena Russo, exploring the resonances of love, belonging, and identity through objects and how they shape space and movement.

In advance of this workshop, please revisit a place that holds emotional meaning for you (i.e., where you met someone important, where you cried, etc.) and bring an object that you have picked up from this visit (i.e., a rock, leaf, business card, etc.). You will be invited to collectively collage with the imprints of this object—diffracted through materials including paint, Play-Doh, charcoal, yarn, glue, tack, pencils, etc.—as well as with the object itself.

The second half of the session will involve a discussion of the process and feelings evoked in an examination of:

a) how love, belonging, and identity act as portals through space/time;

b) how individual and intersecting identities shape collective space;

c) how echoes (Goh, 2024) claim a voice of their own; and

d) how established definitions of legitimacy influence the flows of echoing in knowledge-making processes.
